About Julie Cranfill

Julie Cranfill My name is Julie Cranfill. I am originally from Muncie, Indiana. I grew up on an Arabian horse farm, showing horses in competition for 15 years. My interest in art emerged from drawing the Arabian horse. After studying art for four years in school, I minored in art at Ball State University graduating in 1993. Feeling lost after college, I set my brushes aside and got busy with life. I moved to Fishers, Indiana in 1995, married and started a family. In 2004, I resumed painting and "found myself" in the process. I have shown my art in various places such as "Phoebe's Art and Soul" in Muncie, In. 116th Gallery in Fishers, In. "Atlantic Mercantile" in Atlanta, In. "Pegs Boutique" in Carmel, In. "Artists on the Square" in Noblesville In. and currently "Athens Arts Salon One!" in Crawfordsville, In.

My Artist Statement describes me best...
I would like to be able to tell you that I am a famous artist with a huge following, have won several awards, been in various artist magazines, and jurried into the finest art galleries all around the world. This is not the case. The truth is, I am just an ordinary girl who loves to paint. I am inspired by life and what I see around me. I paint whatever gives me goosebumps at that time. As you can see, my paintings truly vary from abstracts to florals, portraits to seascapes and landscapes. I experiment with color and brush strokes. I love playing with my pallette knife. Sometimes I will layer a painting till it turns into something ... or nothing. I compete with myself by painting new things outside of my comfort zone. My greatest satisfaction comes from how my paintings make others feel. I like to think that there is a positive energy that comes from me and is poured into my paintings and then released into others.

I stay true to myself by following two simple quotes...
"Feelings are everywhere, so be gentle"
"Don't let others intimidate you because they are no better than you, and you are no better than them"
